Janie Lee Henry was born July 27th, 1946 in Howard County, MO to Mable Jane Boone and Roy Broadus. At an early age, Janie was baptized at St. Paul Methodist Church in Fayette, MO. She attended Lincoln High School in Fayette MO. Janie worked at the University. On September 9th, 1977, in Miami, Ok, she married the love of her life Wesley B. Henry and later moved to Kansas City, MO. They had two children. Janie worked as a Domestic Engineer for private families and worked for the Kansas City School District Bus Company for 30 years. Many family and friends knew her as Ballie. Her favorite things to do were playing cards, dancing, listening to music, and entertaining family and friends. Throughout her illness she never complained, always saying “I’m alright”. She was a member of Willis Chapel AME Church in Kansas City, Mo. Janie was called home to glory at the age of 70 on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father Roy Broadus, her mother Mable Jane Boone; husband Wesley B. Henry in 1989; son Wesley Lee Henry, in 2000; brothers Tommy McQuitty, Issaiah T. Dickerson; sisters Virginia L. Crutchfield, Mary F. King, Delphenia Williams, Wanda McQuitty, Cliffie Nevel; brothers in laws Melvin Burnes and Archie King. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter Michelle Robinson (Jeff) of Moberly Mo; 4 grandchildren, Tan-Taisha S. Cunningham (Damian), Robert J. Boone, J’Angelo M. Robinson, Dahrell Johnson. Her three sisters, Ethel Ewing (Ira), of Moberly MO, Stella Burnes of Fayette MO, Barbara Jones of Kansas City, MO. Six brothers, George (June) Dickerson, of Fayette, MO, Garry Boone (Trina) of Columbia MO, Leroy Broadus (Mary), Fayette, MO., Russell D. Powell, Columbia, MO, Harold McQuitty (Sheila), of California, Carl McQuitty (Octavia), Fayette, MO. Brothers in laws William Tooley, and Allen Crutchfield, of Kansas City, MO, Jessie Williams, of Springfield, IL; 9 great-grandkids. A host of nieces, nephews, family, friends. Special friends and family Ella Jackson, Roy L. Broadus, and George Jones.
Celebration Services will be held on Thursday, June 1st, 2017. Visitation: 2 – 3 pm. Homegoing Celebration: 3 pm held at The U Church, 9910 E. Bannister Rd, Kansas City, Missouri.
