JEFFREY CRAIG LAUDERDALE

Jeffrey Craig Lauderdale was born September 2, 1959 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to John Lauderdale and Barbara McWilliams before moving to Houston, Texas in 1980; he was the 5th born of seven children. He was preceded in death by his daughter Latisha Simone Lauderdale; Father; John Lauderdale; Grandparents Florence Rice, Leola Jettie, Siblings; Otis Hartz and Cherie Lauderdale.  Jeffrey accepted Christ at an early age; completed his ABC’s (Accept, Believe and Confess) he was reared in his Baptist belief at New Bethel Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan. In his last years of life he was affiliated with Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church where he enjoyed praise and worship. Jeffrey served faithfully as a Deacon on the Deacon Board and other ministries up until his last few years when sickness set in. He relished in his personal relationship with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.  He was raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan on Townline Road. Jeffrey was educated in Benton Harbor, Michigan. 1977 was the year he left his civilian life to proudly serve his country in the Armed Forces (Army) where he was recognized as a skilled sharp shooter. After the service Jeffrey navigated from the Great Lakes State of Michigan to the state of Texas in 1983 where he furthered his learning as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed this profession for multiple years before transferring his career to Kansas City, Missouri in 1989 where he established and obtained a more stable permanent place of employment through the warehousing industry. Jeffrey was a family-oriented man of God and enjoyed all of his family to the upmost! If you’d ask him, he’d ensure you that family meant everything to him and he wouldn’t trade “his crazy family for the world.”  Jeffrey was united in marriage to Vanessa Lauderdale (Jackson) in 1980 and to this union 2 daughters and 2 sons were born: Monica, Latisha, Jeffrey, and Titus.  Jeffrey and Vanessa shared 37 years of marriage with a total of 43 years of togetherness.  Jeffrey loved all sorts of hobbies; fishing, (keeping up his personal fish tank/aquarium), lover of all music types, playing musical instruments (Saxophone), scrapping, reading/studying his bible/word, card games, dominoes, shooting the breeze with family and friends, vacations, personal time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  Jeffrey departed his earthly life on Thursday July 27, 2017 in the comfort of his home located in Kansas City, Missouri. He earned his heavenly wings at the tender age of 57.  He leaves so many memories to be cherished, his wife Vanessa Lauderdale; his children Monica Jackson, Jeffrey Lauderdale, Titus Lauderdale; Grandchildren; Jonice Burks, Ja’ron Burks, Jaheim Burks, Jeffrey Lauderdale III, Mai’sen Lauderdale, Mai’seon Lauderdale, Isaiah Lauderdale; Parents; Barbara McWilliams, Siblings; Linda Hartz (Charles), Thelka Lauderdale, Lawanda Taylor (Myron), Leola Kiser (Ollie), Shirley Cooper, Sheila Mobley, Lisa Jackson, Cindy Jackson, Amos Evans; Daughter in Love; Alberta Wilson and Step Son; Joe Burks; and a host of other relatives and friends.  Celebration was held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Mt. Vernon MBC. Visitation 10-11. Service was at 11.
